/Great interior design is all about being inspired by trends to create something new and exciting!
When developing the perfect style for your space, consider these incredible interior design aesthetics as your starting point for affordable home decor and inspiring home ideas…
Let’s take a look at them:
Traditional: Traditional design styles are often characterised by an emphasis on the classics For many people, they provide a feeling of comfort and security, thanks to their familiarity and heritage associations.
There’s nothing too outlandish featured in a traditional design, with careful property styling providing a defined and coherent colour palette and design choices. For furniture, look for an affordable interior designer who will help you pick out the right elegant pieces to create a traditional aesthetic which doesn’t feel too cluttered or stuffy. Symmetry and neutral tones, mixed with rich fabrics and shades, are also characteristic of this style.
Modern: When we talk about modern interior design styles, they’re actually not so modern after all – with many of the aesthetic choices formed by the 1920s Modernist styles. The furniture of this style is a combination of modern and classic style with a touch of minimalist style.
The furniture is not very modern but still trendy today. It is simple and has less carving on it. The main colour for this style is brown, beige, black, chocolate brown, grey, silver, white, and grey blue shades.
To have this combination of classic and modern, colour is the main ingredient.
Art Deco: Inspired by French art and design from the 1920s, art deco (short for arts decoratifs) is characterised by sleek, metallic finishes like stainless steel, glass and chrome. Furniture and wall art throughout an art deco-inspired home are defined by jagged, pointed edges. Pieces are also larger – generously sized chairs, armoires, dressers and couches are all typical of the 1920s. Light fixtures are just as structured as the decor and furniture. They’re typically made of sleek, shiny materials like polished bronze, chrome or steel. Bold geometric patterns are frequently printed on wall sconces, ceiling mounts and lamps. Other angular designs like chevron and zigzags adorn light fixtures. Great examples of Art Deco architecture can be found in the historic district in Miami Beach, Florida where this whimsical style is embraced by many small hotels built in the mid-1920s to early 1940s.
Bohemian: Bohemian interior style is equipped with a laid-back atmosphere and places an emphasis on nature, intricate patterns and bright colours like purples, reds and pinks. In fact, all of these elements are frequently combined to create an eclectic and unique aesthetic. Boho chic is all about mixing interesting colours, trinkets, fabrics and various types of furniture without any intention of matching or adhering to a specific style, much like the nomadic vagabonds who inspired it. You might see a contemporary couch featuring striped upholstery alongside a vintage velvet ottoman and a bright-coloured statement chair. It’s the mix of different types of furniture that make Bohemian interiors so versatile. Light fixtures are just as unique as the furniture. Intricately detailed pendants, chandeliers dripping with crystals and table lamps complete with fringe are fixtures common for Bohemian homes.
Industrial: Industrial design is unique amongst the styles on our list, as instead of concealing the materials which go into creating a property, it works hard to expose and emphasise them. Brick, metal and shades of grey are all commonplace in industrial homes. Industrial interiors give off a cool, modern vibe.
There is something unfinished yet deliberate about the industrial style which makes it ideally suited to urban dwellings, instantly elevating newly built apartments or properties where a unique look is desired. Industrial chic decor has become the style of choice for many urban loft spaces that were formerly factories, schools or other old buildings with exposed brick and rafter ceilings.
